Sterling Silver Granulated Scroll 29mm Wide Bali Cuff Bracelet
Indonesia learned metalwork from the Southern Chinese and Southeast Asian traders during the Late Bronze Age, 1550-1200 BC. During the Majapahit Empire in Java (1300s), gold and silver was mined and moved into Bali which became the center for Indonesia's gold and silver metalsmiths. The methods they use to craft their jewelry have been handed down for centuries. Bali silversmiths use small intricate patterns of scrolls and beads arranged in patterns on a silver background which is usually oxidized, darkened, to create contrast. This technique is called granulation.
