Mother of Pearl Jewelry

Mother of pearl and abalone are both types of nacre which is formed by some sea mollusks as the inner shell layer. It is also the same nacre material that a mollusk uses when it makes a pearl. Nacre or shell is strong, resilient and iridescent in light at different viewing angles. Shell has become very popular in jewelry because of its ability to be carved and set in many creative ways.
