Lapis lazuli is a stone of friendship and truth. The golden shimmer which gives the stone the magic of a starry sky is pyrite. Lapis was also used by the Old Master painters to make ultramarine oil paint by grounding it into a powder and stirred it together with binding-agents. The name ultramarine means "from beyond the sea," alluding to the trade route from Afghanistan to the Mediterranean and beyond. Genuine 6x8mm oval facet lapis gem is set in a sterling silver bezel setting with scroll work on the sides. Ring is a size 7 and can be sized. To clean: simply use a jewelry polishing cloth when needed.
