Mined throughout America's Southwest, these blue to green gems of turquoise have different characters of color, veining and quality from mine to mine. Each piece of our turquoise is natural and genuine which in a market today can be hard to find with so many imitations, synthetics and treated impostures.
Turquoise has been a prized gem throughout history and throughout the world, a known talisman to bring it's wearer good fortune and as a symbol of wealth in many ancient cultures. Turquoise jewelry is also one of the world's oldest jewelry found in the tombs of Ancient Egyptians dating back to 4,000 BC. The Ancient Egyptians called it "mefkat," which means "joy" and "delight."
American turquoise has been mined since pre-Columbian Native Americans. Some of the oldest mines are in New Mexico which was at one time the largest producer of the country's turquoise. Many mines have been depleted and closed throughout America's Southwest and around the world but the love for turquoise is personal and it has it's legacy. We believe like the Egyptians that it gives great joy and delight.
